About me | I have been a governor at St Christopher’s since 2013, and Chair since August 2020. In my working career I was a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow at Manchester University in the Department of Audiology and Education of the Deaf – so I am deeply committed to the inclusion of children with Special Needs. After retiring from the University I worked for 6 years as a Lay Chaplain at an ecumenical all-age Independent School for girls so I am also very happy to have the role of RE governor at St Christopher’s, and I hope to continue to strengthen links with the Parish community of Our Lady and St Christopher’s.

About me | I’ve been a Governor at St Christopher’s since 2016. I attended the school myself, as did my 3 older brothers, so have a pretty good knowledge of the history of the school. My eldest child attended the school, and my two other children are currently in Year 2 and Year 6. My governor role sees me Vice Chair of the full board, and Chair of both the resources and Pay committees. In my working career, I spent 20 years in the finance industry, working at Barclays and the Co-op predominantly managing Supplier relationships and latterly in Contracts & Performance Management. 6 years ago I moved to the NHS to do a similar role, with more of a focus on planning & performance. My banking and financial experience means I have a good head for figures and budgeting and these skills are used within the Governing Board. St Christopher’s has always been a friendly, welcoming school, and I am proud to be part of the governing board.

About me | I have been involved with St Christopher’s since 2010 when my eldest son started reception. Both he and his younger brother thrived at the school and so when I was offered the opportunity to become a governor I felt that it gave me the opportunity to give something back.

About me | I live in Romiley with my husband, daughter and stepdaughter. I didn’t attend St. Christopher’s myself however my Husband and his siblings did back in the 70s/early 80s and our youngest daughter is currently in Year 3.
It was evident to me that St. Christopher’s is committed to providing an outstanding, caring, motivational and supportive learning environment; enabling all children to thrive and instilling values which will be relevant in all stages of their lives. Furthermore, there’s a real sense of community and as a parent, I’ve found this to be hugely valuable.
I put myself forward to become a Parent Governor as the opportunity to become closely involved in the workings of the school and influence associated decisions was something that I felt passionate about. In addition to being able to offer insight to the Governing Board from a parent/family perspective, I also felt the skills I’ve acquired during my 30 year career in Human Resources (HR) would also provide a good foundation for me as a Parent Governor. I’ve undertaken a variety of senior HR roles across different industries and in addition to generalist HR knowledge and expertise, including responsibility for developing HR strategies, I’ve also built knowledge across specialist areas such as change management, internal communications and engagement. Other key skills I’ve developed include the ability to collaborate, organise and motivate in addition to providing constructive challenge and being commercially astute.
